Ollene Whitehead

Ollene McCray Whitehead, 80, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. A Graveside service will be held at 10 am Tuesday at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl, MS with visitation prior to services from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Monday, October 7, 2019 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Mrs. Whitehead was a native of Prentiss, MS and lived her early years in the Wesson Community. She was the daughter of Ernest and Ollie Wilson McCray. She was married to Doyle Whitehead. Mrs. Whitehead owned and operated a staffing service many years before retiring. She was a faithful member of Sunshine/Park Place Baptist Church for 45 years loving her choir and all the fellowship with church members, her youth group and Sunday School classes she taught. She was a member of the American Businesswomen Association, a board member of the Better Business Bureau, long time director for the Junior Miss program for Jackson, MS. She loved playing Basketball and was a star player for Co-Lin High School and enjoyed watching the sport and cheering for her favorite teams. Mrs. Whitehead loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ollie Wilson McCray; sisters, Mattie Moore and Inez Jackson; brothers, Francis Lee McCray and Thomas Earl McCray.

Mrs. Whitehead is survived by her husband of 55 years, Doyle Whitehead; son, Phil Whitehead and his wife Rhonda; grandchildren, Braden Whitehead and his wife Lexi, Leighton Whitehead and Brehan Whitehead; sisters, Jean Maddox and Bernice Rice; many beloved nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Park Place Baptist Church in her honor.
