Lamar Harrell

1938 — January 1, 2021

Lamar Harrell, age 83, and a lifelong resident of the Contrell area and Pelahatchie area for the last 20 years died Friday, June 11, 2021 following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Monday, June 14, 2021, from the chapel of the OTT & LEE  Funeral Home in Morton.  Rev. Paul Smith will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 7pm to 9pm. Sunday, June 13, 2021, and again prior to the service on Monday  at 1:30pm till service time.   The final resting place is in the New Liberty Cemetery. No graveside services will be held as the family will remain to visit with friends after the funeral service.

Lamar was born on Saturday, April 9, 1938 in Harperville to his parents Johnny Clois Harrell and  Minnie Lee Bailey Harrell. He worked in the tool and die industry for many years and later became a self-employed farmer.  He loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting,  fishing, and visiting family.  He was a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James C. Harrell and Hugh L. Harrell, a nephew, Jimmy Wayne Harrell and a grandson, Hugh Haralson, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Harrell of Morton, his first wife, Lela Calhoun of Lena, four children, Eddie Harrell (Marsha) of Lena, Tommy Harrell (Becky) of Forest, Gail Russell of Lena, and Tracy Cannon of Morton.  He is also survived by one brother, Travis Harrell (Mary) of Brandon, two sisters, Joan Freeman (Joe) of Union, and Linda Sue Gibbs (Jimmy) of Forest; and, a legacy of seven grandchildren, Cody Harrell (Sara), Ashley Harrell, Dallas Harrell (Christine), Brooke Christian (Noah), Paige Stevens (Caleb), Bayley Alexander (Elliot) and Robby Cannon as well as nine great-grandchildren, and a host friends.

Pallbearers are Ricky Everett, Bill Robbins, Brian Edwards, Alvin Willey, Dallas Harrell,  and Noah Christian. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Harrell, Elliot Alexander, Travis Harrell, Joe Freeman,  and Jimmy Gibbs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to New Liberty Baptist Church  191 Measels Road, Morton, MS 39117

Funeral services will be provided by OTT & LEE Funeral Home of Morton.
