Mr. Joe Dell Thompson, age 79 and a longtime resident of Pelahatchie in Rankin County, passed away on March 31, 2021 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from the Cross Roads Baptist Church with Rev. Vic Bowman and Rev. John Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in the Cross Roads Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Thompson was a Christian by faith and held membership at Cross Roads Baptist Church. Favorite past times were horseback riding and cutting firewood. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, in particular his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Wilma Franklin Thompson; two brothers: Billy Ray Thompson and Merl Thompson; three sisters: Genelle Gray. Genevia Harrell, and Marylee Floyd.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Mrs. Roma Sue Thompson and two children: Wanda (Dale) Bridges and Ronnie Joe (Diane) Thompson; four grandchildren: Lance Thompson, Joseph (Diana) Thompson, Josh Bridges and Mandy (Jordan) McQueary; one great grandchild: Matthew McQueary; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Purvis, Dale Thompson, Mark Dye, Heath Dye, Brian Dye, and Horace Goldman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Dyess, Travis Hamilton, Glenn Harrell, Irby Hugh Floyd, Ricky Walker, and Tony Lamb.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home and on Saturday beginning at 1:00 pm at Cross Roads Baptist Church.
