Elizabeth Susanna Stokes passed away on October 10, 2021 at Diversicare Health Services in Europa, MS. She was born on January 20, 1925 in Vienna, Austria to Viktor F. Pfeiler and Elizabeth Hunger Pfeiler.  She married John D. Stokes on November 15, 1947. John was a member of the 42d Infantry Division and US Army Occupation in Austria at the time of their marriage.  She immigrated to the USA with John in early 1948 as a War Bride.  They made their initial home with John’s parents in Pulaski, MS, then moved to Morton, MS in 1957. John remained in the US Army until 1965 when he retired to Morton. Elizabeth remained at home with her family and parents-in-law during John’s military service.

Elizabeth enjoyed working at various variety stores in Forest and Morton for many years. She then worked for Talon in the garment industry and later with Multi Craft assembling automotive parts until she retired.

She is preceded in death by her husband: John D., Son: John D. Stokes, Jr., parents, Sister Maria, Brothers Viktor and Kurt. She is survived by Sons: Bobby R. (Mary) and John W. (Cathy). Four Grandchildren: Katrina (Nathan), Jonathan (Laura), Matthew, and Ryan, seven Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jesse) Drew, Mary Ann, Seth, Joseph Ray, Gabriel and Michael Crawford and one Great-Great Grand Child: Tyler Drew. She loved her family very much and took great delight in spending time with them.

Services are scheduled for October 13, 2021 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS.  Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 pm at Ott and Lee with grave side services and burial at 2:30 pm at Brassel Cemetery in Pulaski, MS.
