Dorothy Steverson

July 3, 1941 — May 7, 2023

Brandon, MS

Dorothy Ann Steverson, our beloved Dot, passed away in her home, surrounded by loving family on May 6, 2023.

A Celebration of Dot’s Life will be 2:00pm Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Oakdale Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, May 12, 2023, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Brandon and again Saturday at the church from 1:00pm until service time.

She was born in Polkville, MS on July 3, 1941. Survived by four children Don Steverson, John Steverson, Allen Steverson, and Tammy McKenzie, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sisters in law, Barbara Martin and Jo Parkman Smith as well as her two cats, Gypsy and Jazz. She is also loved and remembered by her Bunko friends Nedra, Barbara, Gwen, Misty, Mary, and Dolly.

She is preceded in death by the love her life of 50 years, Robert Carl Steverson, her brother, Bobby George Parkman, her mother, Vernalla Reeves Parkman, her father, Wallace Parkman.

An avid traveler, Bunko player, and game show junkie, Dot's real passions were her family and friends. Dot sought to instill in her children a foundation of faith, a zest for life, a commitment to family and friends, and the power of a kind word or the power of a smile. She had the magnificent ability to uplift anyone she was near with her infectious laugh.

Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ". She embraced life, celebrated friendships, and encouraged so many to believe in themselves friend or acquaintance. Her light and joy will be forever missed and celebrated by family and friends.

Until we meet again.
