David Paul Williamson

July 31, 1946 ~ March 28, 2023 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Obituary

David Paul Williamson passed from this life to the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 28, 2023.

He was born to Lonzo and Retha (Emmons) Williamson on July 31, 1946, joining brother Creston and sister Joan.  They were later joined by brothers Sollie and Charles and briefly by infant sister, Glenda.

As a teen David loved to fish and ride his motorcycle.  He graduated from Byram High School and spent the next year at Hinds Junior College before joining the workforce.  He taught his nephews good work ethics by hiring them as teens to work at his Popeye’s restaurant.

He loved the gospel and gospel music and acquired the nickname Deacon Dave.  His first date with his sweetheart, Carolyn Landrum, was to dinner and then to an all-night gospel sing.  After that and a lengthy courtship, they were married on January 7, 1989.  They chose the 7th because it is God’s perfect number.  Together, they had many happy years and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

Always clever and quick with a joke and a smile, his family and friends will remember the fun and funny times with David.  He was a wonderful and generous cook. He was particularly adept at smoking meats on the grill. The Best!  His decorating skills were put to good use every year staging elaborate Halloween and Christmas scenes outside at his parents’ home and inside with dozens of Snow Village pieces.

David was predeceased by his parents, Lonzo and Retha, brothers Charles and Creston and sister, Joan (Myers). He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, his brother, Sollie(Monika)Williamson, his nephews, Bennett Myers, Mike (Allison) Myers, Jim (Megan) Williamson and Nathan Williamson, and niece, Teresa(Kevin) Rainey, 12 great nieces and nephews, 5 great great nieces and nephews and a host of dear cousins.
