David Armstrong

December 9, 1952 — May 11, 2022

Brandon, MS

David Matthew Armstrong was born in Jackson, Mississippi, on December 9, 1952. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2022.

Matt’s passion for serving others was evident in all aspects of his personal and professional life. He was known by all as a quick-witted servant leader who showed the love of Christ through his 35+ year career helping those with mental health illnesses and through his absolute devotion to his family.

He was married to the love of his life, Debbie, for 47 years. He enjoyed playing golf with his son, spending quality time with his grandchildren, taking long drives with Debbie, playing guitar, going to the beach with his family, and bringing the fun wherever he went. Although he was a man of few words, his poems, prayers, and promises on paper will be forever cherished.

Matt is survived by his wife, Deborah Toles Armstrong, his daughter, Sarah P. Jones (Gage) of Brandon, his son, Matthew T. Armstrong (Torri) of Brandon, his grandson, Carl Edward (“Tripp”) Payne, III, and his granddaughter, Anne Caroline Armstrong.

Visitation will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following. And as Matt would say, “Peace be with you.”
