Daniel Bures

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, Daniel Raymond Bures, loving husband, father, son, & brother passed away at the age of 55. Visitation will be held on Thurs. June 9, 2022 from 5pm-7pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Memorial Services will be held at 11am on Fri. June 10, 2022 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Flowood, MS. He is survived by his wife, Mary Esther Bures; father, Raymond Ladean Bures (step mother, Linda Bures); son, Trevor Daniel Bures; daughter, Alyssa Lynn Bures; step daughter, Lacey Caroline McGraw (Spencer); two step sons, Jacob Levi Pearson and Matthew Tyler Pearson; four sisters, Sheila Renee Wehland (Chad Gerking), Traci Lynn Roubal (Mike), Tonia Lynn Girard (Jim), and Lisa Anne Neville; two brothers, Robert Ladean Bures (Heidi) and William Joseph Bures (Sunny); brother in law, Timothy Wade Neville; step sister, Katie Marker; step brother, Brandon Marker; father in law, Burnice Levi Jones (mother in law, Mary Margaret Jones); three sisters in law, Genevieve Burnham (Steve), Margaret Camille Jones and Bethany Lee King (Shea). He has been reunited with his family that preceded him in death: his mother, Linda Janine Bures; grandmother, Alice Hodgins; grandfather, Louis Bures; grandmother, Katherine Paczosa; grandfather, Valerian Paczosa; grandfather, Buzz Shemek; great grandfather, Clyde Sucha; great grandmother, Agnes Sucha and two cousins, Shelly Bures and Rusty Bures.

Daniel Raymond Bures was born on January 22, 1967 in Columbus, Nebraska to Raymond L. Bures & Linda J. (Shemek) Bures.  He graduated from Fairmont Public Schools in May 1985.  After High School, Dan enlisted in the Navy and served as an electrical technician aboard the USS Wainwright out of Norfolk, Virginia.  During his enlistment he actively fought for his country during the Gulf War.  He was honorably discharged in August 1991.  He was awarded 2 Sea Service Deployment ribbons, the Joint Meritorious Service Award, Humanitarian Service Medal, USCG Special Operations Service ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Service medal and the National Defense Service Medal.  He moved back to Nebraska and enrolled at Peru State College and earned his place on the football team. He moved to Mississippi during the summer of 1996 where he completed his Associates Degree in Computer Networking & Programming at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from ITT Tech. He held various jobs over the years and worked at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for the past 12 years, where he held many positions and recent role was a Epic Application Analyst.  In 2017, he received all 7 certificates and became Certified in Epic.  He married Linda Carver on July 7, 1999.  He became a father on June 8, 2000 when his son Trevor Daniel Bures was born.   On October 28, 2004 his “baby girl”, Alyssa Lynn Bures was born.  He met the love of his life, his soulmate, Mary Esther (Jones) Pearson on 12/21/2012 - known by many to be the end of the world as we know it.  For them, the world as they knew ended and their new world was changed for the better that day.  On June 21, 2014 they were married and joined their 2 families as 1 and he became a step-father to Lacey McGraw, Jacob Pearson & Matthew Pearson.

Dan was a passionate man in every aspect of his life.  Most importantly, he was a family man.  His family was the most important thing in the world to him.  His wife and children were the center of his universe, there isn’t anything he wouldn’t do or sacrifice for them. He was so proud of his children and loved sharing their accomplishments.   He was a protector - whether it was family, a friend or a stranger, it did not matter.  If he felt you needed his protection, he was all in!  His protective nature multiplied by his compassion made his presence larger than life.  He had a way of making everyone he met feel like they were important.  His magnetism drew everyone in, like it or not.  He had love for music and a gifted voice.  Music was his heart and the words were his soul.  He loved sharing his passion for music with everyone, including his children and left a little bit of himself behind in every song.  He was an avid sports fan and a TRUE Husker fan.  He made it part of his life’s mission, that even though his kids were born and raised in Mississippi, they too would love the Huskers (of course they didn’t have a choice). He had a zest for anything sports - facts, statistics, players, etc., you name it, he knew it.  He was always trying to put a smile on everyone’s face and always trying to make every situation better.  He loved watching movies and quoting movies in every conversation.  He could rattle off the exact quote(s) that related to any conversation.  He had a lot of knowledge and was willing to share it and give advice.  The beach and ocean were his happy place.  Any opportunity he had, he vacationed near the beach!  The many sides of Dan that everyone loved and will remember will make him a presence in our lives forever: best hugger, best storyteller, teacher, role model, loved holding babies, soft hearted, affectionate & passionate.  His hearty laugh and smile that could light up a room, will forever be missed.
