Dakota Mcmiller

Dakota McMiller, age 19, and a resident of Morton, passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 in Morton, MS.

Dakota was born on May 15, 2001 in Jackson, MS to his parents Leroy, Jr., and Heather McMiller.

Dakota graduated from Morton High School in 2018. He was currently attending East Central Community College on an academic, band and choir scholarship, and was majoring in music.

Dakota loved to sing, his laugh was contagious, and his smile would light up a room. To know Dakota was to love him.

Dakota is survived by his mother: Heather Denson McMiller; one brother: Refeal Hicks; one sister: Shakena McMiller; his maternal grandparents: D.Q., Jr., and Rose Denson; aunt: Suzie Hayes (Howard Tillis); uncle: Tommy Denson (Leslie); uncle: Jeff Denson (Lea); cousins: Brodie Denson, Gabe Denson, Gavin Denson, Glen Denson, Mesha Hayes, and Michael Hayes.

Dakota was preceded in death by his dad, Leroy McMiller, Jr., his paternal grandparents: Leroy McMiller, Sr., and Willie Bell McMiller.

Graveside services will begin at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the Branch Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Rev. Joey Smith will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brodie Denson, Gabe Denson, Terry Towner, Michael Hayes, Taylor Goss, A’Dontay Williams, and Jorian Jackson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gavin Denson and Glen Denson.

Ott & Lee Funeral Home, 3555 Hwy. 80, Morton, served the McMiller family.
