Visitation is Monday, June 21, 2010 from 5 – 8 pm and again Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 12 Noon until 1:15 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 2 pm Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS with burial in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. John Vaughn will officiate. Pallbearers are Russ Stringer, Keith Dennis, Archie Stringer, Richie Stringer, Michael Buckley and Jeff Beasley. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews.Lawrence lived in Pearl for 35 years before moving to Pelahatchie in 2009, and was a longtime member of Truitt Memorial Baptist Church while living in Pearl. He organized the start of Crest Park Subdivision Home Owners Association; was a member of the Pearl Exchange Club; and retired from UPS in 1998. He became a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in 2010.Lawrence believed that when a brother took a wife, she became a sister; when a sister took a husband, he became a brother. When his son took a wife, she became his daughter; and when a daughter took a husband, he became his son.Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Gail Stringer of Pelahatchie, MS; one son, Shaun & daughter, Melissa Stringer, one daughter, Shea and son Chip Long all of Pelahatchie, MS; the love of his life (as he called them, “My Boys”) grandsons, Tyler, Symon, Myles Stringer, and Wyatt Long; five brothers, George Stringer (Charlene) of Tylertown, MS, Milton Stringer of Pearl, MS, Buck Stringer, Claiborn Stringer (Fredna) and Charles Rodgers all of Bay Springs, MS; five sisters, Myrtle Hodnett of Goldsboro, NC, Ethelene Ainsworth (Ray) of Bay Springs, MS, Lenora Stringer of Terry, MS, Bobbie Stringer of Dallas, TX, Roz Stringer of Brandon, MS; his mother in law, Audrey Alexander, and a sister-in-law, Yvonne McTaggart (John) all of Brookhaven, MS; and a host of nephews and nieces.Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, B.B. and Myra Stringer of Bay Springs, MS; three brothers, Albert Stringer of Jackson, MS, Rev. Frank Stringer of Wichita Falls, TX, and Robert Stringer of Brandon, MS; a sister, Frances Rodgers of Bay Springs, MS; and two sisters by marriage, Cil Stringer of Bay Springs, MS and Goldie Stringer of Pearl, MS.Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1675 Lakeland Dr., Jackson, MS 39216; or Cross Roads Baptist Church, Pelahatchie, MS 39145.
