William Michael “Mickey” George

May 23, 1951 – January 31, 2024

William Michael “Mickey” George, 72, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2024 in Brandon, MS, surrounded by his loved ones. Visitation is Friday, February 2, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. The funeral service will be Saturday, February 3, 2024, 10 a.m. at Ott and Lee Chapel. Mark Alexander, and David Leonard will officiate. Interment will follow at Crestview Cemetery.

Mickey was born in Canton, MS, on May 23, 1951, to the late M. A. George and Lucille George.  He is preceded in death by his grandson, James DuBose.

Mickey was a Christian and member of Brandon Baptist Church.

He graduated from Canton High School where he excelled in athletics before attending Mississippi College on a football scholarship. A die-hard Bulldog fan, he graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Business and Marketing and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Following graduation, he joined the United States Army where he was honorably discharged as a Second Lieutenant in 1980.  After his career in the military, Mickey worked for Ford Motor Company as a dealer representative traveling throughout the southeast working with various Ford dealers.   In 1984, he began his retail career in the automotive industry in the Metro Jackson area at East Ford and has worked in different capacities for several dealerships. Mickey was currently working in Customer Relations at Gray Daniels Ford in Brandon.  Mickey’s kind and easy-going personality and desire to help customers in the best way possible set him apart from many in the competitive automotive industry.

He was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather; and a loyal, fun, generous brother, co-worker and friend.  He was  known for his calm demeanor, and quick wit with a mischievous twinkle in his eye and a good-natured spirit. Co-workers and friends say he has always been a class act and always ready and willing to help anyone anytime.

First and foremost, Mickey was a proud daddy to his daughter Amanda who is quick to say he never failed to put her and her family first and has forever shaped their lives with his love and advice. They also enjoyed a passionate sports rivalry, with Mickey being a Bulldog and Amanda being a Rebel.

Survivors include his daughter, Amanda DuBose and husband Jonathan, his beloved grandchildren, Lucy and William, brother Danny George (Carolyn) of Madison, sister Nan Westbrook of Brandon and a close group of very special friends he considered to be family.
