Wayne Arnold Hanson

Wayne Arnold Hanson, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Pelahatchie, on December 16, 2025, surrounded by his wife who loved him dearly. Born on January 5,1947 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, he lived a life marked by service, wisdom, and an unwavering love for people.

A proud veteran, Wayne, honorably served in the United States Army, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty, integrity, and patriotism. His service shaped much of who he was—strong, dependable, and always willing to stand up for others. He attended many Army reunions and was a proud, active member of the American Legion and Pelahatchie Masonic Lodge.

Known for a smile that could light up any room, Wayne truly never met a stranger. Wherever he went, he made people feel instantly welcomed, valued, and loved. His warm personality and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

He was famous for his “lectures”—never missing an opportunity to offer life advice, share a story or a lesson learned through experience. These moments, often filled with humor and heartfelt wisdom, will be cherished by all who had the privilege of listening.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Martha Hanson; his children, Herbert Hanson and Michelle Rhodes (Keith); his brothers, Dale Hanson, Jack Hanson, and Gene Hanson; his grandchildren, Brooke Rhodes, Tyler Rhodes, Taylor Vinson, Haley Hanson, and Erin Hanson; and his great-grandchildren, Harrison Vinson, Reese Vinson, Libby Vinson, and Aspen. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Jan Hanson, and by his parents, Arnold and Marie Hanson.

A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Friday Dec. 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church at Shiloh. Visitation will be held on Thursday Dec. 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to American Legion Post 171, P.O. Box 1024, Pelahatchie, MS 39145, or to the Mission Fund at the Church at Shiloh.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of kindness, laughter, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
