Mr. Edd Rock, age 82, and a longtime resident of Smith County, passed away on December 16, 2020 at the Jasper County Nursing Home in Bay Springs.
Graveside services will begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Jesus Name Church cemetery near Sylvarena under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Mr. Rock was born at Tremont and had been a resident of this area for the past sixty years. He was a Christian by faith and lived his life as an example of others to follow. He was a retired farmer and will be remembered for his strong work ethic. Mr. Rock was a veteran of the United States Army; reading and fishing were favorite pass times. Naturally musically inclined, he used those abilities to become a fine tuned guitar player. He was the patriarch of his close knit family, whom he loved very much.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years: Mrs. Irene Rock; one daughter: Stacey Carol Rock; one son-in-law: Jeffery Harrison; and his parents: Duard and Lillie Johnson Rock.
Survivors include his five children: Betty (Allan) Westbrook of Raleigh; Kathy Harrison of Pulaski; Regina (David) Wallace of Bay Springs; Danette Garner of Raleigh and Jonathan (Amber) Rock of Raleigh; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four siblings: Edna Cates of Arkansas, Edward Rock of Mississippi, Milford Rock of Texas and Sue Strong of Mississippi; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services are being provided by Ott & Lee Funeral Home, 295 East First St., Forest, MS 39074.
