Vicki Jane Grimes Gibson Hume
February 21, 1955 – December 15, 2025
Vicki Jane Grimes Gibson Hume, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on December 15, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, Vicki will be remembered for her unwavering tenacity, radiant auburn hair, and the warmth and generosity she shared so freely. Her love for people, dogs, and plants reflected a life rooted in compassion and joy.
Born on February 21, 1955, in Zanesville, Ohio, to Joseph McKinley and Edith Agnes (Cullins) Grimes, Vicki spent her early years in Ohio before moving to Dallas, Texas, where she began a distinguished career in telecommunications. Her journey took her to Alpharetta, Georgia, where she continued her work while co-owning and operating a horse farm—a testament to her adventurous spirit. She later moved to and spent several years in Houston, Texas before settling in Madison, Mississippi, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Management from Belhaven College. Most recently, she served as National Trainer for Comcast University, where her natural ability to motivate and inspire made her a leader in corporate training.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Vicki was a passionate gardener, an accomplished cook, and an enthusiastic traveler. She delighted in exploring new places, most recently enjoying a European cruise with her husband, David. Her “beach girl” weekends were a treasured tradition, and her active involvement in her church reflected her deep faith and commitment to community.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents Edith and Joseph Grimes; beloved husband of 25 years, Marvin “Mickey” Gibson. She is survived by her loving husband, David Hume; her daughter, Aubree Michele Evans (Parks) Stearns; step-sons Wes (Melanie) Gibson and Torey Gibson; step-daughters Shari Dawn (Jacob) Blackwell and Kimberly Jones; beloved grandchildren Griffin Durwood Evans, Lanie Gibson, Blaine Gibson, Hunter Gibson and Hayden Gibson, Zach Blackwell, Wyatt Blackwell, Collin Jones, Lily Jones; cousin Randy (Kitty) Cunningham; and many, many friends that became her extended family.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service at Grace Crossing Baptist Church in Canton, Mississippi.
