Truman Johns

Truman Virgil Johns, age 78, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at MS Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with interment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Johns was born on November 11, 1942 in Homewood, MS to R.C. and Effie Bruce Johns. He was married to Peggy Purvis Johns. He was the cofounder of Copeland and Johns Construction Company in 1978 until his retirement in 1995. Throughout his retirement he spent time hunting and fishing with his grandsons and spoiling his only granddaughter. He also enjoyed his Thursday walkabouts with his best friend/brother. Mr. Johns loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Johns was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Peggy Purvis Johns and parents, R.C. and Effie Bruce Johns.

Mr. Johns is survived by his two loving daughters, Kimberly Britt of Terry, MS and Wendy (Tommy) Williams of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Thomas Branigin, Reagan Britt and Amanda Branigin; brother, Bruce Johns; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
