Mr. Travis Marlon Runnels, age 75, a resident of the Kalem Community passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at his resident. Visitation was held 5-9pm Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 8:30am-2pm Friday. Services were held 2pm Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton and burial in the Groveton Presbyterian Cemetery. Bro. Bob Smith, Bro. Jeff Taylor and Bro. Bobby Tagert officated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Runnels was born in Magee, MS on December 16, 1940. He worked as a Crane Operator building bridges and highways for Professional Construction for many years. Travis never met a stranger and always had a helping hand for anyone in need. He loved riding his yellow Trike Motorcycle . Travis enjoyed being outdoors deer hunting. His family meant the world to him and he will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his spouse, Rena Mae Wiltcher Runnels; parents, Travis Runnels and Vondell Maddox Runnels; son, Travis Wayne Runnels; 3 brothers, Fred, Curtis and Johnnie Runnels.
He is survived by is children, Charles Mitchell Runnels (Missy) of Morton, Wayne Runnels (Ella) of Hammond, LA, Tammy Runnels Gray of Morton and Jeff Runnels (Sissy) of Morton; sister, Dora Wilson of White Oak; 5 brothers, James Runnels (Dot) of Magee, Tommie Runnels of Morton, Jackie Runnels of Pearl, Pat Runnels (Barbara) of Pearl and Robert Runnels (Betty) of Morton; 11 grandchildren, Travis Runnels (Chastity), Eric Runnels (Hannah), Justin Runnels (Santana), Tyler Runnels (Anna), Kasey Gray, Willie Gray, April Runnels, Brandon Kinchen (Brooke), Kaleb Jones, Ryan Jones and Christina Fergusen; 12 great grandchildren, Blane, Madison, Marley, Charley, Christian, Paige, Angelo, Callie, Bryace, Baleigh, Titus and Kendra.
Pallbearers were JR Warren, Travis Runnels, Willie Gray, Tim Coley, David Runnels and Tony Stinson. Honorary pallbearer was Bryce Martin.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Groveton Presbyterian Cemetery Fund.
