Trany “Melba” Steverson Seal
(January 7, 1928 -August 31, 2025)
Melba went to be with our Lord on August 31, 2025. Visitation will be September 4, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, 1360 W. Government St., Brandon, MS. Followed by a graveside service at Cedar Lawn Cemetary, 2434 W. Capital St., Jackson, MS.
She was born on January 7, 1928, in Jones County, just outside Ellisville, MS. She was the 9th child of 15 born to John Henry and Ella Leona Smith Steverson. She worked several jobs throughout the years but she loved being a Teachers Aide and Floral Designer. Melba loved people, her family and friends. She help people whenever she could. She loved animals. She was self-taught artist. Melba also, loved to dance and have a good time. She lived out her final years at Castlewoods Place, Brandon, MS where she became known as the “Dancing Queen”.
Melba is preceded in death by her husband, A. Chester Seal, and her parents, John Henry and Ella Leona Steverson. She is also preceded in death by her bothers, John Henry Steverson, Norman Steverson, Fredrick Steverson, Calvin Steverson, Jesse Steverson, Willard Steverson, and Burlin Steverson; and her sisters, Dorothy Busby, Bertha Mosley, Effie Busby, Nora Minter, Rose Grober, Pansy Myrick, and May Joy Steverson.
She is survived by her son Daniel (Danny) S. Seal (Terry D. Seal) of Brandon, MS. Melba is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, too many to lists.
Pallbearers will be Wes Hodges, Bret Lane, Billy Thornton, Darrell Grober, David J. Roy, and Danny Murphy.
