Mr. Tommy "Ray" Shoemaker

Pelahatchie, MS

Ray Shoemaker, age 77, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at his home.  Visitation will be held 5-8pm Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Chapel service will be held at 1pm Friday, April 14, 2023 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Leesburg Church of Christ Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Ray was born in Morton on July 5, 1945.  He loved to deer hunt and fish especially with his brother, Buddy.  They were two peas in a pod, you saw one you always saw the other one.  Ray loved to deer hunt with dogs and he and Buddy enjoyed cutting firewood and bean sticks together.  He was a carpenter by trade and a great house builder.  Ray loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Faye Latham Shoemaker; parents, Tommy Lee Shoemaker and Erma Lee Bowman Shoemaker; siblings, Buddy Shoemaker, Eva Mae Stewart and Ruby Ann Prestage.

He is survived by his children, Renae Walker and husband, Michael of Morton and son, Mark Shoemaker of Pelahatchie; 2 siblings, Mary Jean Smith and Nona Bell Rhinewalt; 2 grandchildren, Brad Boykin (Hayley) and JC Walker (Phoebe); 7 great grandchildren, Rylan, Ripley, Buckley and Hayze Boykin, Destiny Walker, Ashton Sims and Santana Sims; 2 great great grandchildren, Tyler and Caiden Sims.

Pallbearers will be Malcolm Rhinewalt, Glen Bowman, Randy Peavey, Dirk Aycock, Chance Goolsby and Larry Prestage.
