Tommy Gene Campbell, 71, of Brandon, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2025. Tommy was born on January 24, 1954, in Canton, MS to Edward and Bessie Lou Campbell, Jr. He attended Callaway High School. On August 16, 1975, he married his wife of almost 50 years, Sharon Smith Campbell and together they had one child. His career consisted of working as a steel fabricator. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon. He enjoyed watching sports, spending time with his dog, (Hatch), and spoiling his precious grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Campbell, Jr., his brother, Stanley Campbell, his nephew, Jacob Cambell, his grandfathers, Edward Campbell, Sr. and Alton Taylor, and his grandmothers, Dutch Campbell and Inez Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Smith Campbell of Brandon, MS; son, Chase Campbell (Shey) of Brandon, MS; his granddaughter, Palmer Campbell; grandson, Berkley Campbell and his beloved dog, Hatch. He is also survived by his mother, Bessie Lou Campbell of Denham Springs, LA; his sister, Bettie Jo Smiley of Denham Springs, LA; his brother, Kenny Campbell (Sandy) of Florence, MS; sister in law, Donna Campbell of Denham Springs, LA; brother in law, Jim Smith (Kerri) of Madison, MS; sister in law, Nan Sims (Charlie) of Marietta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the Internal Medicine Group, Jackson Pulmonary, Infectious Disease Group, ICU staff hospitalists, as well as the nurses at St. Dominic Hospital and Andrew Brantley and Kristina Holyfield for their compassionate care. Deepest gratitude goes to Dr. Bobby Graham for his treatment and care for the last five years.
Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 5pm-7pm and on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 9am-10am. Funeral Services are 10am on Friday, August 1, 2025, at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or First Baptist Church Brandon Building Fund.
