Thomas Wright

August 28, 1940 — December 9, 2022

Brandon, MS

Thomas “Tom” Vincent Wright of Brandon, Mississippi passed away at his home, surrounded by loved ones on December 9, 2022.  His passing was peaceful after a battle with an illness that eventually took claim to his earthly body at the age of 82.

Tom was born in Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, Canada on August 28, 1940.  While serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Tom was sent on a training mission in Mississippi where he met Nancy Ann Bell at a baseball game in the spring of 1963.  That evening they attended a dance at the training base and he knew Nancy would be his wife.  Tom returned to Canada to continue his service, but came back to claim his bride on August 24, 1963.  Four children were born while they lived in Canada, but the bible belt called and he brought his family to Mississippi.  Tom eventually became an American citizen and worked in Telecommunications for Bellsouth for 31 years.  He was a faithful servant of the Lord, was a loving husband, father and grandfather with many talents.  Tom could build anything out of wood, played the steel, acoustic and electric guitar.  He made guitars, a Dobro and a harpsicord out of wood and had a passion for country and bluegrass gospel music.

Tom’s greatest achievement was raising the family God gave him.  He thanked God often for choosing him to raise his family.  He was a great provider and was always full of wit.

During his final transition, Tom questioned why someone wouldn’t use the mind God gave them.  He wondered why someone wouldn’t want to know more about everything.  He was always inquisitive and curious about how things worked, operated or were made.  He studied French for four years while in the service and loved how many languages were similar in some aspects.

Tom will be sorely missed and leaves behind a legacy of Love and Laughter.

To honor Tom’s memory, a celebration of his life will be held on December 11, 2022 at Brandon Baptist Church, officiated by Brother Clarence Cooper at 100 Brandon Baptist Drive, Brandon, MS 39042.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm followed by a service at 2:00 pm.  Family and Friends are invited to join a fellowship following the service.
