Thomas Gerald Smith, age 81, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026. He was born on July 3, 1945, in Canton Mississippi, Tommy lived a life of hard work in which he passed this ethic onto his children. He loved a good conversation and had an unwavering love for his family. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Clayborn Charles Smith and Juanita Smith.

He is survived by his son, Gerald Smith and his daughters Lisa Huff and Connie Frazier. Tommy was blessed to have four grandchildren, Brandon Huff, Austin Huff, Madison Frazier, Asher Smith and one great grandchild, Liam Huff. Tommy built his life on the principle of hard work, and family. He had a longtime love of dirt track racing, music, fishing and good conversation. Tommy took great pride in his family, and he treasured every opportunity he had to spend time with them. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his family and celebrating their accomplishments. Whether working on his car lots, driving a tanker truck or just sitting on the bank of a lake fishing, Tommy’s greatest fulfillment came from talking to people and helping others. His family was not simply the most important part of his life; it was central to who he was. Tommy will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. His presence, witty humor that brought laughter to all those around him, wisdom, generous spirit, and dedication to his family leave behind a legacy that will continue through the many lives he touched, and for generations to come.


Funeral service will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, at 1360 W. Government St. Brandon, MS, on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. A graveside service will follow at Lakeland Place Memorial Park.
