Thomas Conley Kennedy, 82, entered his heavenly home October 8, 2022, at 1:50 a.m. Funeral services will be held at Brandon Baptist Church on Monday, October 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with interment in the Old Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, Mississippi. Dr. Clarence Cooper, Rev. Gayden Harrell and Rev. Rob Jackson will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.
Mr. Kennedy was born January 20, 1940. He was a graduate of Brandon High School and Mississippi State University. He was a farmer and later owned and operated Kennedy Ag Supply in Brandon. During this time, he was a member of Mississippi Ag Council and served as President. He served as an Alderman for the City of Brandon and also served in the Mississippi National Guard for ten years.
Mr. Kennedy was a charter member of Brandon Baptist Church, serving as chairman of the founding steering committee, chairman of Deacons, and in other leadership positions. He was a member of the Ushers Men’s Sunday School Class. Tom loved mission work and served on the Board of Directors of the Romanian American Mission Board. He made over twenty trips to Romania to witness and assist with medical clinics. He was also involved in the jail ministry with Gideons International for many years.
He enjoyed attending MSU and Baylor University athletic events with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed trips to the beach with his children and grandchildren and spending time with extended family and friends.
Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Beatrice Kennedy, and his stepmother, Marion Kennedy. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Phyllis Warren Kennedy; two daughters, Amber Kennedy Thompson (Mitch) of Waco, Texas, and Haley Kennedy Guest (Michael) of Brandon, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Mary Conley Thompson, Caroline Thompson, Kennedy Guest and Patton Guest.
Pallbearers are Pat Guest, Freddy Harrell, Billy Henderson, Malcolm Loe, Robert May, John Lee Overby, Doug Perry and Gene Sirmon. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Ushers Men’s Sunday School class.
