VISITATION: 5:30 PM UNTIL 7:30 PM TUESDAY AND 1 PM WEDNESDAY AT OTT AND LEE IN BRANDON.
Thomas Hardy Burton, Sr., passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at his lake house at Bee Lake, where he loved duck hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Visitation is 5:30-7:30 pm Tuesday and 1 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev Luther Hart will officiate.
Hardy was born March 28, 1951 in Philadelphia, MS to the late Thomas Loil and Lola Hardy Burton. He was a 1969 graduate of Central High School in Jackson where he excelled in basketball and baseball and became known as “Bones”. Hardy attended Belhaven College on a basketball scholarship where he played under Coach Charlie Rugg. He was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon. Hardy was employed for the past 25 years at Carr Plumbing Supply where he gained many friends, whom he considered family.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Douglas and Jerry and sisters, Billie Jean Moorhead and Lynette Craft.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Robin Burton of Brandon; son, Tommy Burton (Michelle) of Brandon; daughter, Lindsay Burton of Brandon; granddaughter, Abi Burton of Brandon; brother, Greg Burton (Judy) of Conway, AR; sister, Cindy Huff (Kevin) of Brandon; a number of nieces and nephews, who all loved him very much.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, for the work they do for children like our
special family friend, Gracie Biedenharn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Talmadge Jones, David Presley, Johnny Burnham, Dale Parker, Don Levins, Neil Minton, Carl Nix, Bo King, Hite Lane and Bob Carr.
