Thelma Laverne Tadlock Layton, 94, affectionally known as “Granny” or “Nookie” by many, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at MS Care Center in Morton, MS. Services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with visitation starting at 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
Mrs. Layton was born in Morton, MS on November 16, 1928, to A.P. Tadlock and Lillian Ester Squires Tadlock. Thelma worked and retired from the Insurance industry.
Survivors include her children, William H. (Karen) Layton, Jr., Janice (Jim) McCrory, Linda (Clyde) Bowie, and Cheryl (Jerry) Odom; siblings, Roger Tadlock, Sarah Franklin, and Oscar (Annette) Tadlock; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren; she is also survived by many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Pops” Layton; grandson, Bo Layton; son-in-law, Alvin Miller; and her parents.
