Sylvia Iris Moore

Sylvia Iris Hatton Moore, 88, passed away on Wednesday February 23, 2022.  Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS on Saturday February 26, 2022 from 12 Noon to 1:00 pm.  Following visitation, a Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm in the Ott & Lee Chapel.  Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lawrence Blanton Moore.  Her parents O.T. Hatton and Iris Pope Hatton, brother Bobby Hatton, and sisters Betty Giardina and Gail Montgomery.

She is survived by her son, Michael L. Moore (Joan) of Brandon, MS and daughter, Laurie A. Moore of Morton, MS.  Grandchildren, Emily Moore Jones (Josh) of Clarksville, TN, Ryan Moore (Robin) of Marietta, GA and Adam Moore (Ashley) of Brookhaven, MS.  Great Grandchildren Lainey Jones, Jasper Jones, Noah Moore, Nolan Moore, Harper Moore and Kaylee Moore.  Her brothers Don Hatton (Pam), James Hatton (Karen) and sister Alice Kean (David).

Mrs. Moore was an expert in crocheting, needlepoint and counted cross stitch.  During her lifetime she produced many beautiful hand made treasures from pictures to bedspreads, tablecloths and quilts.  Her family and friends were often the happy recipients of her lovely handiwork.  In her younger days she always had beautiful plants and flowers and loved to stroll through her flower garden.

Mrs. Moore was an active member of First Baptist Brandon for many years.  She served in the nursery at FBC for over 10 years, not just on Sundays, but for Vacation Bible School and any other occasions when babies needed rocking.  She was also active in the Special Needs Ministry and Women’s Ministry.  She was a faithful member of her Life Group.

She was also involved in Threads for Life, making blankets and quilts for preemies and newborns in local hospitals.  Her hands were seldom idle.
