Steven Harold Kennedy, 63, passed away on Sun. May 3, 2026 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Thurs. May 7, 2026 from 9:30am-11:30am at Crossgates Church in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11:30am on Thurs. May 7, 2026 at Crossgates Church. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.
Steven was born on Oct. 11, 1962 in Jackson, MS to the late James Harold Kennedy and Geraldine Johnson Kennedy. He served his country in the United States Navy. Steven worked as a Sales Rep with multiple companies such as Jackson Motor Sports, NAPA and Briggs & Stratton. He was a member of Crossgates Church in Brandon, MS and greatly shared his faith. He always kept a positive attituded even during his illness. Steven always made people laugh and never met a stranger. Steven was an avid LSU fan and it was said by his wife, Joy that him being an LSU fan was the only thing that she did not like about him. Steven was a loving family man and was mostly proud of his daughter, Laynie.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Jones Kennedy; four children, Laynie Kennedy (Colby), Kree’ Twist, Meagan Rounds (Kyle) and Amanda Balthis; two grandchildren, Peyton Stokes and Owen Stokes; sister, Caren Moore (Bill); two nephews, Wes Madden (Laura), Tyler Madden (Alexis) and a host of family and friends.
Along with flowers, donations may be made and mailed to the Crossgates Church Benevolence Fund at 8 Crosswoods Rd. Brandon, MS 39042 or given online at crossgates.org/give.
