Stanley Howard Moore, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in Jackson, Mississippi. Born on July 29, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, Stanley lived a full and vibrant life marked by deep devotion to family and a spirited love for his roots.
Stanley is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Maxine Morris Moore – affectionately known as Aunt Maxie – whose companionship was the cornerstone of his life. For many years, they were inseparable. Even as Alzheimer’s gradually took its toll on her memory, Stanley’s unwavering love and care never faltered. His steadfast devotion through every stage of her illness stands as a testament to the depth of his character and the strength of their bond.
He is also survived by his brother-in-law M.C. Morris and wife Linda, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished him dearly. Known affectionately as “Uncle Stan,” he brought joy and laughter into countless family gatherings. His playful spirit shone brightest during Christmases spent helping children with their new toys – often becoming more engrossed in the fun than anyone else.
A proud Texan at heart, Stanley adored his home state and celebrated its culture with gusto. He especially enjoyed competing in chili cook-offs, where his enthusiasm for bold flavors matched his larger-than-life personality. These events were mare than competitions – they were opportunities for him to share stories, laughter, and camaraderie with others.
Though details of Stanley’s education and military service are not included here, what remains clear is the legacy he leaves behind: one of warmth, humor, loyalty, and enduring love. His presence lit up every room he entered; his kindness left lasting impressions on all who knew him.
May the memory of Stanley Howard Moore bring comfort to those who mourn his passing and joy to those who recall the many moments he made brighter simply by being himself. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Strong River Baptist Church Cemetery (Highway 472, Pinola, MS).
