Sidney “Sid” Anderson Cox, 80, passed away on Wed. Feb. 28, 2024, at his home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Fri. March 1, 2024, at Brandon First Methodist Church from 1pm-3pm. Funeral Services are 3pm on Fri. March 1, 2024, at Brandon First Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS is handling arrangements.
Mr. Cox was a native and long-time resident of Brandon, MS. Sid was a graduate of Brandon High School and the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, he was in the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Cox was one of the founding partners of the first cable television franchise in Rankin County. He owned and operated a retail clothing store. Later, his talent in sales led him to careers in insurance and real estate brokerage. He served as President of the Jackson Association of Realtors. After retirement, he drove for Enterprise and made many friends.
Sid loved his Lord Jesus Christ, his church, his family, his friends, and the Ole Miss Rebels. He was a member of Brandon First Methodist Church, the Wesley/Nowlin Sunday School class, the Chancel Choir, Curcillo, and Kairos. After retirement, he served by regularly visiting the shut-ins of the church.
Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Cooper Cox and A.G. “Doc” Cox and brother-in-law, Tommy Henson. Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Jean Underwood Cox of Brandon; children, Kelli Jenkins of Brandon and Daniel “Dan” Cox (Brandi) of Monticello; two sisters, Hellen Henson and Carolyn Meadows (Wayne) both of Brandon; five grandchildren, Dylan Spence, Gracie Moore (Jamie), Evan Cox, Jolee Jenkins, Hayden Alford and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to his doctors, Gentiva Home Hospice and Renita Reed Berry for their compassionate care throughout his illness.
