Shirley Ivy (76) was called home by her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 30, 2025, in Brandon, MS, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Ott and Lee funeral home in Brandon, MS. A private graveside funeral will be at 1:30pm at the Mississippi Veteran’s Cemetery in Newton, MS.
Shirley was born in Hialeah, Florida to the late Shirley Paschall Pevey and Walter Lawson Pevey. She was raised and lived in Hialeah, Florida as the eldest of three siblings. She remained there until she met the love of her life after visiting friends in Blytheville, Arkansas. After only knowing Richard Ivy for a few short days, the two decided to wed and were married for 51 years. She remained a loving and devoted military wife, following her husband around the country and raising their family wherever his assignments took them.
Shirley loved to cook. Shirley's passion for cooking was a catalyst for gatherings, bringing her family together around the table to share in the joy of a holiday or impromptu gathering. She also found joy in gardening, witnessing the fruits of her labor come to life. She took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought her unparalleled joy. Her heart swelled with happiness in the midst of her lively household, surrounded by the people she loved. She will be fondly remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, quick wit, and compassion for others, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Richard Wayne Ivy. Shirley is survived by her three children Christine Ivy Morain (Tony), Wendy Ivy, Michael Ivy (Katie); seven grandchildren: Melissa Underwood (Ian), Allie Ivy, Mallory Martin (Kyle), Cody Coker, Austin Craig, Travis Coker; three great grandchildren: Russell, Ivy Lynne and Eliza Underwood. Brothers: Buddy Pevey (Lynne) and Frank Pevey.
Shirley’s family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Arden Hospice. They would also like to thank FMC-Lakeland Home dialysis unit with a special thanks to Dr. FM Phillippi IV and nurse Jordan Higgins for their unwavering love, support, and care over the years.
