On Sunday, February 19, 2023, Sherrell Reynolds Crout, age 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior four days before her 88th birthday. Her life will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 1pm with the funeral service to follow in the chapel at 3pm. Interment will be held at Harperville Memorial Park following the funeral.
Sherrell was born on February 23, 1935, to Ruby Reynolds Scott near Dothan, Alabama, where she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Gus, and Clara Reynolds, and where she later met and married Delton Crout who was stationed at nearby Fort Rucker at the end of the Korean War. They eventually moved and settled in the Hillsboro community of Scott County, Mississippi, where for over forty years they were furniture business owners and community members. A member of Harperville Baptist Church, and a devout follower of Christ, Sherrell served as an example of Christ’s love to her family and friends.
Sherrell was preceded in death by her husband, Delton Crout; her grandparents, Gus, and Clara Reynolds; her mother, Ruby Anderson, her aunts, Virginia Johnson and Francis Gilbert, and her siblings, Carolyn Robertson, and Danny Anderson. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Everett (Robert); her grandsons, Blake Everett (Jennifer) and Todd Everett; her great-grandchildren, Cole Everett, Wesley Everett, Elizabeth Everett, Samuel Everett, and Elias Everett, her sisters, Kathy McFarland and Ginny Beall, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Blake Everett, Todd Everett, Cole Everett, Wesley Everett, Donnie McDaniel, and Dave Lee.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in memoriam to either Harperville Memorial Park cemetery or Bibles through an organization like Gideons International.
Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest is honored to serve the Crout family.
