In Loving Memory of Sheila M. Breland

April 13, 1949 – July 5, 2025

Brandon, Mississippi

Sheila M. Breland, 76 of Brandon, Mississippi, entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, July 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Poplarville, Mississippi, to Royce and Christine Malley, Sheila spent her life nurturing others with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering grace.

A lifelong educator, Sheila began her teaching career in Picayune, Mississippi, where she taught first grade. After settling in Brandon to raise her children, she continued her calling as a kindergarten teacher at Kinder-Gates in Brandon and later at Northside Elementary in Pearl, Mississippi, where she taught both kindergarten and second grade. Through her decades of dedicated service, she left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students and colleagues—instilling not only knowledge, but kindness and confidence that her students carried into the world.

Sheila was a faithful member of Crossgates Baptist Church and a cherished part of the Boyette/Jackson Class, where she formed treasured lifelong friendships. Her zest for life shone in simple joys—playing dominos and bunco, relaxing on boat rides with dear friends, and sharing laughter-filled days with those she loved.

Sheila is survived by her daughter, Michelle Blakely and her husband Jimbo of Brandon; her son, Brian Breland of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and her two grandchildren, Preston and Connor Blakely. She also leaves behind her brother, Buddy Malley and his wife Pam, and two lifelong friends, Sissie Schindler and Cynthia Winborn. In addition, she is survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and a wide circle of friends whose lives were brighter because of her. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sherri Janet Malley.

Sheila was the heart of her family and an adoring mother to her children. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, who brought immense pride and love into her life. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel.

Though Sheila has departed this earthly home, her light continues to shine in the hearts and stories of those she touched. Her legacy is one of love, devotion, and quiet strength—and she will be missed deeply, remembered always.
