Sarah “Sally” Carlisle, of Brandon, Mississippi, in the close-knit community of Johns, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born on June 18, 1942, Sally lived a life marked by devotion to God, her family, quiet strength, and a generous heart that always seemed to make room for one more person at the table. She spent many years working in the insurance industry before retiring, but her greatest work and joy were found in caring for the people she loved.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, W.O. and Gertrude Thigpen; her sister, Wilda Harward; and her brothers, John Thigpen, David Thigpen, James Ray Thigpen, Joe Thigpen, and Dan Thigpen.
She leaves behind her beloved husband and high school sweetheart of 64 years, Joe Carlisle, whose life was forever intertwined with hers. She is also survived by her faithful fur babies, Toby and Katy; daughters, Lisa Carlisle, Lori Calhoun, and Lindi Carlisle; son-in-law, Gerald Calhoun; grandchildren, Toni McDonald, Dusty McDonald, Hunter Calhoun, Joey Whatley (Jordan), Josh Whatley (Rebekah), and Zack Tullos (Marley); great-grandchildren, Blaine Blough (Zoe), Michael Blough, Walker Whatley, Bo Whatley, Oakley Tullos, and Lainey Jo Whatley; great-great-grandchild, Sawyer Blough; brother, Billy Thigpen; sister, Susan Jenkins; and a host of in-laws, outlaws, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and folks who simply needed to be loved.
Sally’s legacy is not measured in years but in the lives she touched. She loved deeply, gave generously, and made people feel welcomed, seen, and cared for.
Her family will remember her for her steadfast love, her strength, her loyalty, and the way she always showed up for the people she loved.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love she poured into generations of family and friends will continue to live on.
No memorial service is planned at this time. Future plans for a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. No details are available at this time.
