Sara Iva Carter Busby, born February 27. 1928, in Noxapater, MS to Kate Holman Carter and John Carter. She passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at Country Meadow Personal Care Home in Greenwood, MS.

She had an older brother Fred and then a younger sister Mary Kate. After graduating high school, she went to work for her aunt at Thrasher’s Drug Store in Ackerman, MS. There she met James Marion (JM) Busby. They were married and moved to Jackson, MS, where they had two children, Beverly and Jim. One of her favorite things was fishing. She loved the outdoors, and flower gardening.

Later she helped JM with Busby’s Taxidermy then wood working. She was always a very caring, sweet person.

She was preceded in death by parents, John and Kate Carter, her brother Fred Carter, sister, Mary Kate Carter Sims; and her husband of 63 years James Marion Busby. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Busby Biggers; son, James (Jim) Marion Busby, Jr.; grandchildren, Sara Biggers Johnson, Marcus Daniel Biggers, II, Rebecca Busby Donald, James (Jay) William Busby; great grandchildren, Brayden Parker Johnson, Landon Jacob Johnson, Kinsley Grace Johnson, Jake Carter Johnson, Allison Elizabeth Biggers, Marc Allen Biggers, II, Caroline Beckett Donald, Vivian Kent Busby; in-laws, Jeffrey Johnson, Anna Thames Biggers, Miles Donald and Lydia Buckner Busby.

A special thanks to the caring staff at Country Meadow Personal Care home.

There will be a committal service 11am Friday, May 2, 2025, at the pavilion in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Brandon, MS.
