Funeral services are 1 pm Friday in the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Summit, MS
Visitation starts 11:30 am until Service time Friday


Sandra Kay Adams Smith, age 62 of Southern Pines, NC, succumbed to cancer and was embraced by our Lord on June 15, 2010. Sandra was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on June 16, 1947, to Eloise and L.G. Adams.

She is survived by her beloved husband Tom, son Adam, and granddaughter Sydney Madison. She is also survived by her mother Eloise Burnett Adams, her brothers Lem Adams, III and Jim Adams, together with their wives and children. She is also survived by Tom’s siblings, Judy Koslow, Susie Holladay, and Scott Smith, together with their families. Her extended family stretches from Fort Worth, Texas, through Jackson, Mississippi, to Savannah, Georgia.

Sandra served in public education for 36 years as a classroom teacher and as a Library Media Specialist. She held a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State College for Women and a Master’s degree from the University of Mississippi and earned National Board Certification in 2005. She was named the 2001-02 North Carolina Library Media Specialist of the year by the National Association of Education and Technology Communication. She was a member of Sandhills Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and a leader in women’s ministries. She also served on the school board for Sandhills Classical Christian School.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sandhills Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 6:00 pm. It will be followed by a celebration feast where friends may greet the family and pay their respects. Sandra will be buried in Summit, MS in the family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery following a Memorial Service at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS on Friday, June 18, 2010.
