After a restful day surrounded by family and loved ones, Sandra Elizabeth Mooer passed away at the age of 71 on November 16, 2022. Her passing comes after a prolonged year of struggling with complications from ovarian cancer.
Having been born on March 20, 1951 to Vernon and Mary Mooer, Sandra grew up and lived in the Jackson, Mississippi area for much her young and early adult life. She went on to briefly live in Chester, Virginia and Shreveport, Louisiana before spending nearly 30 years in Austin, Texas. She eventually settled in Fort Worth, Texas near her children and grandchildren. However, Mississippi was always her home.
She spent her career devoted to educating young children, serving as a preschool teacher for over 30 years at Broadmoor and Bethany United Methodist Churches. Sandra also spent time serving as a kindergarten Sunday School teacher. She Retired from teaching in 2014.
Dedicated to her family and friends, Sandra firmly believed in doing the right thing, the importance of spreading kindness and having an energetic and youthful spirit. She had a big heart and loved to share it with her fellow teachers, her dear friends and her family, especially her grandchildren who called her Honey. Her internal strength was founded on the principles of faith, hope and love.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Mary, as well as her sister Scherry Keyes. She is survived by her Daughter Megan Ladd (Fort Worth, Texas), her husband John and their children Jack and Samuel, her son Michael Weems (Arlington, Texas), his wife Victoria and their daughter Eisele, her brother Harvey Mooer (Silver Hill, Alabama) and her nephew Sean Mooer (Bay Minette, Alabama).
A graveside service will be held 10am Monday, November 28, 2022, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Preschool located at 10010 Anderson Mill Drive, Austin, Tx 78750.
