Ruth Virginia Usry
Services for Ruth Virginia Usry were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel of Forest. Elder George Gardner, Dr. Leon Everett, Dr. Danny Dickerson and Rev. David Hale officiated the services. She was laid to rest in the Antioch-Steele Cemetery. Services were provided by Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest.
Mrs. Usry, age 80, a lifelong resident of Forest, died at Lackey Memorial Hospital, Forest, on Saturday August 20, following an extended illness. She had been a resident of Rolling Acres Retirement Center in Raleigh for the past year.
She retired from Tyson Foods in 2005 after over sixty years in the poultry industry. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Forest. Her wit and humor will be missed by all her family and many friends.
Mrs. Usry is survived by five children, Glenda Childs and husband J.T. of Pineville, Garland Usry, Sr., Kenneth Usry and wife Treasia, Lathern Usry, all of Forest, and Loretta Usry-Mart of Ridgeland. She is also survived by one sister, Willie Mae Myers of Forest, and two brothers, Eugene Lanthrip of Lawrence, and Billy Lanthrip of Pearl. Mrs. Usry also leaves behind a legacy of 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Lanthrip and Ruie Creel Lanthrip, her husband, Holder C. “Lit” Usry, and two sons, Roger Usry and Carlton Usry.
Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons.
Visitation was held Monday August 22, from 5 until 8 p.m.
