Ron Mccright

September 6, 1936 — March 8, 2023

Brandon, MS

Thomas Ronald "Ron" McCright, 86 of Pearl, Mississippi, passed away after a long, brave fight.  Visitation will be at Ott and Lee in Brandon, Mississippi Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm.  Funeral services will be Monday, March 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., also at Ott and Lee, with graveside service to follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Pearl, Mississippi.

Ron was born September 6, 1936, to Nellie Mae Hand and Henry Lee McCright, Sr.  He was a native of Newnan, Georgia, and he graduated from Newnan High School in 1954.  His other school experience included several classes to prepare him for the business world.

He served for a short time in the Navy Reserves before being drafted into the U. S. Army.  He chose to become a paratrooper and made many jumps from many perfectly good airplanes.  He was stationed in Germany for part of his duty time and made memories that he would happily share for the rest of his life.  He was honorably discharged in 1957.

His first marriage resulted in two beautiful daughters, Carolyn and Susan.  In 1973, Ron met the love of his life, Shirley Allen McCright.  They had two girls together, Jamie and Gina.  With the union, Ron also became a stepdad to Dale and Penny Brister.  That marriage was to become the foundation of a family that was filled with love, laughter, and happiness.

Ron was a brilliant businessman, and he successfully ran his own company, Precision Brake and Clutch, Inc. for over thirty years in Jackson, Mississippi.  He was well-known in the automotive remanufacturing business as the maker of quality parts.  He was always willing to share his knowledge with a customer, and his kindness and humor kept those customers coming back time after time.

Family Man was the role that really defined Ron.  He always supported his family in every endeavor they pursued.  He was always available to give wise advice and honest guidance.  He never turned his back on his family, and he even opened his home to several 'strays' over the years.  He led by example and turned out well-rounded adults into the world.  He touched the lives of so many with his compassion, and many a young person is better for having had Ron in his life.

Ron is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley McCright, his brother, HL McCright, Jr,  his sister, Rudine McCright, and his son, Dale Brister and daughter, Susan McCright.  He is survived by his children, Carolyn McCright Martinez, Penny (Earl) Sessums, Jamie (Ernie) Walker, and Gina McCright.  His siblings, Martha (Steve) Morgan of Atlanta, GA and Charles (Barbara) McCright of Lilburn, GA. He leaves behind grandchildren, David Brister, Ramah Navidi, Megan Newbaker, Allen Brent Bedingfield, III, Scarlett Bedingfield, Shane Bedingfield, Logan Walker, Alvaro Martinez, and Rachel Martinez.  Ron's life was blessed with 9 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Though we must say good-bye for a while, we should do so in celebration of a life well-lived and filled with love, adventure, opportunity, and blessing.  Ron's light has faded, but so many burn brighter because of him.  He was an amazing man, father, grandfather, friend, and more.  May the wonder of his touch continue through the generations.
