Roger Beutell Thornton, 74, passed away on Mon. June 26, 2023 at Cooperwood Senior Living in Flowood, MS. Visitation will be held on Thurs. June 29, 2023 from 5pm-7pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and on Fri. June 30, 2023 from 9:30am-10:30am at Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10:30am on Fri. June 30, 2023 at Brandon Baptist Church with burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS.

Mr. Thornton was born on March 15, 1949 in Jackson, MS to the late James Beutell Thornton and Mavis Street Thornton. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Mr. Thornton was a Mason and was also a member of the John P. Byrd #629 Lodge in Pearl, MS. He loved to work with his hands building and fixing things and also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting with family and spending time with his dog, Treasure.

Mr. Thornton is survived by his wife Diane Thornton; three children, Sandy Valentine, Bradley B. Thornton (Misti) and Chad Thornton (Jami); sister, Cheryl Chapman (Allen); four grandchildren, Tyler Alford, Grayson Hovas, Sadie Raye Thornton, Sophie Risher and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brandon Baptist Church Building Fund at 100 Brandon Baptist Dr. Brandon, MS 39042.
