Robert “Petey” Lovelady, 56, of Brandon, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2025.
Robert was born on July 7, 1969, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to William and Julianna Lovelady. He attended Richland High School. In June of 2008, he married Tracy Michelle Lovelady, and together they had one child and lovingly raised two. He worked as a maintenance technician at Cintas and as a stocker at Kroger.
Robert attended both Word of Life Church in Flowood and Rexford United Methodist Church in Florence. He enjoyed many activities, including weightlifting (he loved to always say, “Feel my muscles!”), watching football and other sports, telling silly stories, spoiling his fur-baby (Bentley), and playing board games with his family. He was one of the hardest-working people you could ever meet, constantly putting the well-being of those he loved before his own.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Julianna Lovelady; his father, William Lovelady; his grandfathers, Weldon Lovelady and Ernest Armstrong; and his grandmothers, Cora Lovelady and Alice Armstrong.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Lovelady; his son, Brent Lovelady; his stepdaughter, Danielle (Scott) Mullins; and his beloved fur-baby, Bentley. He is also survived by his stepmother, Teresa Lovelady; his brothers, James (Marva) Lovelady and William (Kelly) Lovelady; his sister, Theresa Lovelady; his parents-in-law, Larry and Evelyn Harper; his sisters-in-law, Sherry Harper and Amy Malley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him deeply.
The family extends special thanks to Robert’s friends and coworkers at both of his jobs, whom he considered family. Deepest gratitude also goes to the Internal Medicine, ICU, and cardiovascular teams, as well as the nurses at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) for their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Saturday, July 26, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place that morning from 10:00–11:00 a.m. for the public. The service will start at 11:00 a.m., and following the ceremony, his final resting place will be at Rexford United Methodist Church Cemetery in Florence.
