Rita Faye Sowell Mashburn, 92, passed away on Sun. April 26, 2026 in Flowood, MS. Visitation will be held on Tues. April 28, 2026 from 5pm-7pm and on Wed. April 29, 2026 from 10am-11am at Pelahatchie Baptist Church. Funeral Services are 11am on Wed. April 29, 2026 at Pelahatchie Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Pelahatchie, MS.
Mrs. Mashburn was born on Feb. 25,1934 in Brandon, MS to the late W.G. Sowell & Mabel Ragsdale Sowell.
She is survived by her two daughters, Monica Edwards (Clyde), Carmen Cunningham and four grandchildren, Ella Edwards, Lila Edwards, Chloe Rowe (Jonathan) and Brooke Cunningham. Mrs. Mashburn is also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Henry Mashburn; a granddaughter, Leah Cunningham and a brother, Billy Sowell.
