Richard Stephen Starnes

Born January 5, 1960 in McComb, MS to W.E. Starnes Sr. and Margaret Griffin Starnes. He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret Starnes of Jackson, MS, maternal grandparents Wilson and Ruby Giffin of McComb, MS and paternal grandparents Wheeler and Edith Starnes of McComb, MS.

Richard worked in the automotive body repair business for more than 40 years before retiring in 2022.

Richard was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time outdoors. His favorite things were spending time at deer camp with his son and grandsons, and going on their annual trip to fish camp on the Quachita River. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joy in life. He loved them all and always wanted them to be around. Family was everything to him, and the legacy he left behind.

Richard is survived by his father and stepmother Ed and Carolyn Starnes of Pelahatchie, wife of 44 years Sharon, son Reggie Starnes (Kara), daughters Stephanie Anderson and Shellye Smith all of Brandon. Brothers W.E. “Bubba” Starnes (Melanie) of Hazelhurst, Keith Starnes (Paula) of Florence, John Barnes of Crystal Springs. Sisters Cyndi Eady and Sharron Bland (Frank) of Richland. Grandchildren Gunter Starnes, Ashlyn Starnes, Rion Starnes, Brayden Anderson, Braxten Anderson, Bryleigh Anderson, Carsen Herrington, Straton Smith and Lakely Smith, one great grandson Knoxton Moore and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
