Rayford Thorne

It is with profound sadness that the Thorne Family would like to announce that, Rayford Dewey Thorne, age 82, of Polkville, MS passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at his home, in Polkville, MS.

He was a faithful member and deacon of Polkville First Baptist Church for many years. He loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; he loved to spend time with them and tell you all about them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Dewey Thorne and Leona Phillips Thorne.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Betty Jean; five children; Regina Wilkey (Morgan“Mike”), Reggie Thorne, Jimmie Nell Tagert (Billy Joe), Catrina White (Creighton), Randy Thorne (Tammie); 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be:  10:00 A.M. to 10:50 A.M., Friday, February, 17, 2023 at Polkville First Baptist Church, with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 A.M. at the church.  Rev. Will McNeese and Rev. Creighton White officiating.

Burial will be at the Polkville First Baptist Cemetery, following the service.

Pallbearers will be, Koeby Tagert, Ethan Tagert, Joey Tagert, Bryan Tagert, Tyler Thorne and Brock White.  Honorary Pallbearers will be, Keegan Tagert, Phillip Nanney, and Matt Warren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Polkville First Baptist Church.

Funeral Services are entrusted to Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Morton, MS .
