Paul Douglas Alexander
Brandon, MS
Paul Douglas Alexander, 79, passed away on October 21, 2024, at his home. Paul was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 2, 1945, to Charles Woodrow Alexander and Ethel Mae LeBeau.
Paul grew up in Caseyville, IL, and attended Caseyville Elementary School. He graduated from Collinsville High School.
Paul joined the Air Force in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War. At the time of his discharge from active duty in 1968, he was stationed in Columbus, MS. He made many friends while in Columbus and decided to make MS his home.
Paul provided for his family by becoming a corporate pilot after receiving his pilot’s license from the MS School of Aviation in 1972. Flying airplanes was like a hobby to Paul, not a job. He was type rated in several different jet airplanes, and always looked forward to the training necessary to fly. During his career, his passengers consisted of chefs, race car drivers, professional golfers, and governors, but the two passengers he felt most honored to fly were President George H. W. Bush and the First Lady.
When Paul wasn’t flying airplanes, he loved hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, water skiing, camping and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Paul was a member of the Patriot Guard and was honored to serve any time he was available. He was also an active member of Quiet Birdman (QB’s), a national private club for aviators.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Gonzales. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Phillis Kimble Alexander; son, Rob Alexander (Krissy); daughter, April Brewer (David); stepson, Chad Dixon (Christie); grandchildren, Andrew, Kira, Naomi, Emma, Landri, Easton, Shelby, Langston, and Cole; uncle and aunt, Robert and Helen LeBeau; nephew, Paul Gonzales; and niece, Christine LaDue.
Visitation will be in the chapel at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 3:00 pm with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Paul will be laid to rest in Brandon Memorial Gardens.
