Patricia Ann Hart

Patricia Ann Hart, of Pelahatchie, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the age of 92.

Visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at The Church at Shiloh, with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m.

Pat was born on September 25, 1933, in Winona, Mississippi, where she was adopted as an infant by her loving parents, G. D. Patterson and Bertie Edwards Patterson. She graduated in 1954 from Gilfoy School of Nursing and went on to pursue a long and successful career in many areas of the profession. Her skills as a leader and a problem solver led her to positions such as charge nurse, nurse manager, hospital administrator, and director of central services, the position from which she retired in 2000. In January 1955, she married John D. “Buddy” Hart, Jr., an officer for the Jackson Police Department.

She was an active member of The Church at Shiloh, serving on committees such as the Finance Committee and the Pastor Parish Committee, as well as teaching Sunday School. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers and cooking, especially baking around the holidays for her family and friends. Affectionately known as “Onie” to her family, she cherished time with her grandson and great granddaughters dearly.

Preceding her in death are her parents, G. D. and Bertie Patterson; husband, John D. “Buddy” Hart, Jr.; and infant son, David Allen Hart.

She is survived by her daughters, Belinda Gail Hart and Pamela Jo Hart; grandson, Adam Hart Surkin (Leian); and great granddaughters, Shelby Ann and Evelyn Dupree Surkin.
