Mr. Pat Arthur Martin, a cherished member of the Morton community, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in Forest, Mississippi. Born on February 9, 1944, in Scott County, Pat lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his community, and passion for his interests.
Pat was a proud veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, a commitment he held dear throughout his life. His dedication to serving others continued as he became an active member of First Baptist Church in Morton, where he proudly served as a long-time deacon and Sunday School director. Pat's faith was foundational to his life and guided him as he fostered close-knit relationships within his church community.
Professionally, Pat was a distinguished Professional Land Surveyor who formed many lasting friendships during his esteemed career. His expertise and dedication earned him respect and admiration from his peers and clients alike. Outside of work, Pat was an enthusiastic Ole Miss Rebel fan and held season tickets to support his beloved team.
Pat was also a Master Mason and a Shriner, where he actively participated in various charitable activities. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting coins and tended to his beautiful tulip beds, which brought him immense joy. Above all, Pat took great pride in his family, who meant the world to him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Becky Martin of Morton, and their loving children, Patricia Heflin (Doug) of Starkville and Justin Martin of Morton. Pat is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie Chamblee of Morton and Ladonna Coley (Jimmy) of Morton, and his brother, Tommy Williams of Morton. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Anna Claire Heflin, Ella Kate Heflin, Ethan Martin, Brixton Martin, Christopher Alford, Addie Grace Weaver, Dannon Weaver, and Kimberly Sessums. He will be remembered fondly by a host of friends who were touched by his kind spirit and generosity.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton Grady Martin and Lela Vernell Bell King; two brothers, George King and Ray Martin; and his sister, Barbara Ann Allen.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Homes in Morton. The visitation will take place on September 29, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, and again on September 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the funeral service begins at 11:00 AM. Following the funeral service, family and friends are invited to join in remembrance and celebration of Pat's life.
Pat Arthur Martin leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love that will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
