Orban Thornton, age 94, a resident of Raleigh, MS passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Brandon Court in Brandon, MS. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30 pm Thursday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Mr. Thornton was born January 12, 1928, in Raleigh, MS to Barney and Enda Ainsworth Thornton. He was married to Lucy Boyette Thornton. Mr. Thornton worked as a mechanic for many years before retiring. He loved drag racing and won at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He enjoyed planting and growing tomatoes, watching football, and being in the outdoors. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Boyette Thornton; son, Glynn Orban Thornton; parents, Barney and Enda Ainsworth Thornton; sisters, Lee Fay Rogers and Lois Brown; brother, Lloyd Thornton.

Mr. Thornton is survived by his daughter, Sandra Smith; grandchildren, Bradley (Angel) Smith, Brandi Smith, Ryan Thornton, and Reese Thornton; sister, Mildred Duffey; special nephew, David Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family wishes to thank Angel, Jerricae, Kita, Keisha, all the doctors, nurses, and staff for your love and care during his stay at Brandon Court.
