Myron Eugene Welsh

Myron Eugene Welsh passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024, in Flowood, Mississippi at the age of 101. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2023, at 11:00 am at Crossgates Methodist Church in Brandon, Mississippi.

Mr. Welsh was born in Houston, Texas, on January 24, 1923, to Leo Arthur Welsh and Octavia Franssen Welsh. He enjoyed classical music, gardening, birdwatching, and was an avid fisherman. A veteran of World War II, he served as a Captain in the Merchant Marines and the Coast Guard, and later was an Admiral in the Cajun Navy. He was intelligent, strong, assertive, outspoken, and fair.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Octavia Welsh; wife, Marjorie Leora Foss Welsh; and brother, Ronald Welsh. 

Survivors include his children, Cindy Wilkins (Bob) of Brandon, MS, Mark Welsh (Maribel) of Hollywood, SC, Nancy Hamilton (Tim) of New London, CT, and Bill Welsh (Luz Eugenia) of Chadds Ford, PA; grandchildren, Mike Wilkins (Lahni), Matt Wilkins (Leila), Bill Hamilton, Karen Chouest (Ryan), Monica Buckley (Andrew), and Andrew Welsh (Haeleigh); and 13 great grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Backpack Ministry at Crossgates United Methodist Church, 23 Crossgates Dr., Brandon, MS 39042.
