On the morning of Thursday, July 17, 2025, Myra Everett, age 94, woke up in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her life will be celebrated on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 2 PM with the funeral service to follow in the chapel at 3 PM. Interment will be held at Good Hope Cemetery following the funeral.
Myra was born on January 3, 1931, to James and Esther Fail in the Lake Como community near Bay Springs, Mississippi. In 1948, she married Leon Everett, her devoted husband of over seventy years, and traveled both the country and the world while he served in the US Army.
Eventually returning to Mississippi and settling in Scott County, she raised her family and faithfully served in her local church. A member of Goodhope Baptist Church, and a devout follower of Christ, Myra openly shared Christ's love to her family, friends, and strangers alike.
Myra was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Everett; her parents, James and Ester Fail; her brothers, J. T. Fail, Joseph Fail, Jasper Fait, and infants Paul and Ira Fail. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Mangrum (Robert); her son Robert Everett (Debbie); her grandsons, Blake Everett (Jennifer) and Todd Everett; her great-grandchildren, Cole Everett, Wesley Everett, Elizabeth Everett, Samuel Everett, and Elias Everett, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Blake Everett, Todd Everett, Cole Everett, Wesley Everett, Donald Fail, and David Fail. Honorary Pallbearers are Randy Emmons, Johnny Emmons, Timothy Emmons, and Danny Emmons.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in memoriam to The Gideons International at SendTheWord.org to help spread the Good News of Jesus, or to help fund the great work and care provided by the Hospice of West Alabama.
Ott and Lee is honored to serve the Everett family during this difficult time.
