Mr. Tommy Sledge, age 85, a resident of Morton passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.  Visitation will be held 5pm-8pm Friday, March 3, 2023 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Chapel services will be held 11am Saturday, March 4, 2023 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Sims Hill Cemetery.  Bro. Tal Vardaman will officiate the services.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Sledge was born in Montgomery County on June 27, 1937.  He enjoyed working hard all of his life, usually 6 days a week.  He drove a truck for many years and when he retired he wanted to be around all the trucks and could be found at his grandson's business, Sledge Trucking.  He enjoyed talking to all the workers and drivers and would sit for hours with them.  Tommy loved his morning coffee club at Spaceway.  He enjoyed working on cars and squirrel hunting in his younger day.  Tommy loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Robert Sledge and Henry Wilson Sledge; sister, Effie Rea Ramage.

He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Sledge of Morton; 3 children, Charlie Sledge of Morton, Sheila Sledge Waggoner (Wilburn) of Morton and Jerry Sledge of Pelahatchie; 7 grandchildren, Guy Sledge (Hollis), Ashlie Sledge, Kimberly Sledge, Christal Griffin (Andrew), Adam Waggoner (Shay), Brandon Sledge (Cody) and Shelby Sledge; great grandson, Aaron Griffin; furbabies, Doge, Peanut and Tiny; best friends, John & Agnus Kennedy; close friend, Buddy Harvey; employee & close friend, Junior Layton; brother-in-law, Paul Melton and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Guy Sledge, Charlie Sledge, Jerry Sledge, Billy Gene Steadman, Robert Ramage and Brandon Sledge.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Griffin and the Spaceway coffee drinking buddies.
