Mrs. Elena Joy Smith, age 67, a resident of the Sardis Community, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Rush Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi.  A Memorial Service will be held 2pm, January 22, 2023 at Sardis Baptist Church.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Joy worked as an Assistant Teacher at Raleigh Elementary School for 28 years.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Joy was preceded in death by her father, Marion Lewis Meadows; her mother, Bonnie Jean McAlpin Meadows; sister, Janet Meadows; and a brother, Marion Eugene Meadows.

She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, (May 21, 1977), Billy Frank Smith; sons, William Frank Smith (Shannon) and Jonathan H. Smith (Jamie); grandchildren, Anna, Neelie, James and Audree Smith; sisters, Bonnie Juliette Heggins and Darlene Meadows and several nieces and nephews.
